“The media is the 4th pillar of democracy, and provides fuel to run the other pillars efficiently”, Sonowal stated, adding, “The writings and the visuals determine the people’s attitude.”
Urging the media to spread an atmosphere of ‘positivity’ about the Government, the Assam CM Sonowal made an appeal to the media to come forward and aid the Govenment achieve its aims.
It may be mentioned that Sonowal and his cohorts have come under scathing attack from various sections of the media after the BJP party rammed the controversial Citizenship Amendment Act through the Parliament. Sonowal’s silence over the issue raised many eyebrows, and the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU), of which he was once the President, has launched vicious attacks against the leader for his stand (or lack, thereof) against the Bill-turned-Act.
